What can the battery handle?
Do any of you run an extra battery for your accesorries? Can the stock system handle Headlights, Taillights, Stereo, Aux port & LED Accent lights.

Re: What can the battery handle?
Yep got a 12v in the bagwell run to a fuse block and have the lights and radio running on it. The thing i discovered running from my main batteries was that the two i run the reducer on seem to always lose a cell faster than the others, thus ruining the battery. This was only my first set of batteries that i ran the reducer on, but some may have better luck. I just figured it is an electric cart that runs off 48v worth of batteries and should only run the cart and no accessories. Just my 2cents. Cheaper to replace 1 12v battery than to wait a year or so and have to start mixing and matching drive batteries to keep the pack happy. WHOOPS Well jumped the gun again, i see you are talking gas cart. The system you have should be fine to handle the accessories.

Re: What can the battery handle?
You should be fine with lights, horn, radio etc. Not sure about a high power amp, though.

Re: What can the battery handle?
G16 generator puts out 15amps max. Add up your accessory currents. I would not go over 10 amps to stay in a range for the battery to recover faster from a low rpm period.

Re: What can the battery handle?
It also will depend on how you drive the cart , slow speed and long stops it may not keep up.

Re: What can the battery handle?
I run 55w lights as do others, you can tell it does not charge much at low rpm. We've never had a problem even with marker lights as well. People that run sub boxes always put a second battery in, but subs take the most power. I would recommend you try to use LED accent lighting, class D amps and efficient speaker setups....that helps. What you can do is hook a relay to the power wire from pedal switch, and connect the batteries together with it so it only charges when running, then run your amp off the second battery, its a cheap isolator.
If you have stock secondary you can wind the spring harder to raise low throttle rpm, it will take a little more gas, will rev higher all the time you are moving and charge better at low speeds. |

Re: What can the battery handle?
You would do better with a voltmeter. It will tell you the state of charge and condition of the battery and electrical system.

Re: What can the battery handle?
Volt meter will tell you when it charges the voltage goes above 12.5v, under 12v is discharge, roughly.
