Default 1991 G-9 king pin removal

I can not figure out how to remove the king pin. I punched out the one roll pin but the other one I think is directly 180 degrees from the spindle with no way of punching it out I am confused

No, drive out the small one first, then the larger one. The small one locks the larger one in. WD 40 it over night should make it easier in the morn.
Then, drive the king pin out toward the bottom. When you reassemble, never seize the king pin in the spindle, and grease in the new bushings and new rubber seals on the bottom bushing is important also. Don't forget to never seize the roll pins as well. Can you tell I love that stuff!! I cleaned up my king pin with emery cloth, spindle hole as well.
Won't believe how solid the car feels after you replace these bushings!

thanks again hey I have everything installed now. I have a question do you know how to properly jet the carb? I have a straight thru exhaust with a small lawn mower muffler on it. The stock main is 105.3. I put a 110 in it and it was way too much. I was wondering if anyone can save me trial an error in what size main and maybe replace nozzle or pilot jets if they have any

I jetted mine with a torch tip cleaner, just keep hogging the main until you get the right plug color. Make sure the engine is warm when you test. You can take the bowl off and jet out in the cart. I hogged until it would run right, not miss/sputter/etc., then left it for a while and checked plug. Check the tip cleaner with a mic and convert to jet sizes they are in metric, or use a metric caliper/etc., then you can buy the right size when you know. If you need to you can solder the jet shut and drill it back out, you can buy the drills cheap at harbor freight or similar the brass drills easily. I'd take the other box off the airbox the part above the generator, the rest does not seem that restrictive. You will have to jet for that too so you might as well do it. You can take other parts out of it but I didn't see any difference. Also if you have some hours on it think about doing the valves. The one I swapped a 16hp into the valves were both pretty bad, wore a groove into the seat, it still ran fine but oil ring had gone away.

Hay Mike I have a 84 g1 I am doing the king pins on it now. On mine the bushing with the rubber seals are on the top? Do you think that is right or did someone before me do them wrong? thank you.

Tony, I wish Sprid would have answered your question, because I don't know a thing about G 1's.
Sho probably knows! He used to work on them.

Chaz, if you search carb jetting, you will find much has been written about jetting. If you want to learn alot about your yamaha, read all the old posts on this site. Thats what I did when I first got here. It answered all my questions before I asked them, or knew to ask them. You will learn what mods are the best bang for the buck, what works and what doesn't. And most important, maintenence, do all the maint. and you will have an impressive running cart.

No need to clog the brain with all that stuff:

Don't like 'hogging' lol, ok how about filing and forcing, that is kind of what you do with the torch cleaner. You can use drills if you have them, but the tip cleaner works if you are careful. You do have to be careful you don't make the hole oval, each time you break through with the next larger size push it through straight. File the hole larger evenly all the way around and only straight in/out not at any angle...you should be fine. I always do that, you can measure the one that just fits it and buy a new jet that size if you desire, when you have it out to the right size hole and then know what to buy.

If your jet is too lean often you can run it with the choke on 1/4 the way and it runs fine, that tells you to try the next larger size. But don't go too large, often with small engine they will be lean when cold. My cart is a little rich they do run better there for max power, plug is black, it only has to run 100' and its warmed up no more missing lol. I only choke it for cold weather starts in the summer I don't use it and can go wot fine from a cold start. However this clone I went too rich jetted it when it was not fully warmed up because someone else insisted on driving it...and it started missing at light throttle it was too rich (was fine wot). Plug was dark, bought a new stock jet and did it all again to get it right. Messed with the idle jet too.
