Default G9 rotted frame

I JUST GOT 2 YAMAHA G9'S AND THEY WERE BOTH SITTING FOR A LONG TIME. I DRAINED THE GAS, PUT NEW IN AND THEY BOTH RUN GREAT NO SMOKE. THE PROBLEM IS WHERE THE BATTERY SITS THE FRAME IS ROTTED AWAY, WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO REPAIR THIS? I PLAN ON PUTTING LIFT KITS AND TRAIL RIDING WITH THEM. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND HOW DID YOU FIX IT?

Replace it or patch somehow, don't know how else other than to weld steel in there. The battery acid will trash them.

What rotted? The tube frame or just the battery box area? If it's just the battery area, cut it out, clean it up best you can, and then put a piece of plywood or steel plate down for the battery to sit on. Works great. Yamaha's are really bad about the battery deteriorating the battery frame area.

I had that problem on a G9 took it to my welder who patched it then reinforced it with some strips of angle iron. Little ugly but was strong as heck.
I also put in a marine, plastic battery box in it as well as my G16 I have now. No rot or acid spills. You could go with a AGM battery too.

i will get some pictures. im taking it to be welded up tonight. both the G9s i got have the same problem so the shop said they would fix them both for $50. i think thats a great price, and i know this guy does very good work. i took the engine out last night so it would be easy for him to work on. i plan on cleaning everything up while the engine is out and painting the frame. battery box and tube frame are rotted away you will see when i post pictures of step by step of the rebuild of this golf cart.

Best repair is to cut away ALL of the rot and replace by welding in new steel.
Sounds like you are on the right track.

It is a pretty easy fix with the engine in place.
