What have you towed...
Just wondering what you guys have towed with your golf carts? Since I put on a receiver hitch I actually use it more than I thought I would. We used it for Halloween and towed my 10 foot trailer all over town. We put lights on it and decorated it some. Best way by far to take the kids trick or treating. We started with 4 adults and 5 kids. Before we knew it we had 6 adults and 7 kids. My cart pulled it no problem. Braking was really the only challenge, but I figured on this anyway. We have also used it to gather leaves at the lake and dump them elsewhere. Next we are entering our Christmas Parade next weekend and we have a golf cart entry as a category. What about you guys?

Re: What have you towed...
I moved a 19' boat with a V8 I/O around the yard, launched both a 17' 'glass boat with a 150hp and a 16' 85hp regularly and pulled them out, as well as a 24' and 18' pontoons. An empty car hauler trailer, well it had some wood on it not a car. A hay wagon with about a dozen people on it, but not up a hill lol. Stock G9 with slightly modded clutches, stock spring in secondary, & 22s. Pull a smaller utility trailer about 10x6 bed the most, with various things in it.

Re: What have you towed...
I've got one on the front and back of our carts and put both skis in at once, pull one and push one. Also have a small 20"X40" slide in tray for the back for chairs, cooler or grille.

Re: What have you towed...
Here is mine, slapped this one together with the welder one day. The tow hoop is handy too and a nice tie down. I should have cut the little angles off, I had to get the hitch level then welded those while on the cart. The other hole is for lawn equipment with a pin. I have a hoop in the front suspension too. I can't see where I would use a hitch on the front, it will not pull hardly anything in reverse it spins.

Re: What have you towed...
And I have no problem pulling my 26' v8 I/0 out of the water or around the neighborhood to the water. The biggest problem is stopping the load. Hopefully that problem is solved when it is all put back together.

Re: What have you towed...
Here is the bumper I built on mine with a Tow-Hook and 2" Receiver under it.Haven't towed anything big,but i had a small trailer(lawn-cart style) loaded with about 600lbs of field-stone and the dump bed was at least as loaded.(Honda Civic coils in rear!)

Re: What have you towed...
I move my boat around the property. I wouldnt launch it with the cart cause the brakes. The boat weighs about 3300lbs.
I used to launch the jet skis (2 place trailer) with my G1 completely stock, no problems. Also routinely pull a 5X14 steel utility trailer around the hood and property. (this was with the stock engine). Now the only limitation is the brakes. |
