1996 Yamaha G14AP JN3-201476 is it good for hot-rodding?
I have one of these carts, and was thinking of getting the "spring" that CPP sells for the cart to raise top speed, and the "Yamaha Power Package" to raise the lower end power. Also may be interested in the Big Block swap. But........ is this the cart I really want to do this to? Is it a good or bad choice to spend money on?

Yamaha's are great carts to upgrade, probably the strongest frame of the Big Three makers. Because of it's age there may be a few things (Plowman's posi unit, for example) that aren't available but overall you should be good. And you already have a good lookin cart, so why change? PS, that torque spring will do just the opposite of what you are wanting for speed. Most folks with a BB take it back out.......

Welcome Gary!
That's a great cart to modify. If you are going to install a big block, you won't need the springs! |

If you go totally crazy and make a buggy to run Glamis, the ezgo has the most parts available to mod. But if you are looking for a fun cart for normal use any of them you can mod with lifts and all that. Taller tires are the best way to gear it up for more speed, and they look cool. Otherwise consider a larger engine, one you can get more rpm out of to raise speed though you can change the gears in the rear too....but the stock engine does not have the power to pull them with large tires, at least not offroad. And all the carts make similar power, unless you get a work model cart with a larger engine. IMO yamaha might be the best cart overall, stock or mild lift/etc, but they all can serve our typical uses.

Thank you gentlemen, it's nice to know that I have a cart that will serve well if I pour some money into it. I'm sure there are some carts out there that just aren't worth spending money on, and don't lend themselves to mods very well. Anyone selling one of those big blocks?? 23hp, 35hp??

Nice car Gary, and once that big bug that is so close to you, bites, the fever, and all these sick people on here will lead you the rest of the way!

Gary a bit of my past was on sleds i modded a 600cc and it was the fastest
Friends bought 700 cc and I had to mod further They got 800 cc and then I was trying to trail ride a racer. I went to 800cc they went 1000cc To go fast and dependable go big. |

Yea, I am thinking of the Vanguard 35hp, any idea how much they get for those, saw them on a page I was on but no prices. Thanks again for all your inputs, keep them coming!
