G2 running erratically
If I step lightly on the gas pedal, my G2 runs perfectly. But of course, the cart moves very slow. But if I press the pedal almost all the way, the engine runs erratically , loses power and tends to die down.
I have cleaned the carb, looked at the primary clutch for possible broken weights and examined my belt. I found everything okay. Any other ideas? |

Re: G2 running erratically
First of all, WELCOME to BGW! Glad you found us!
Does it run better if you pull out the choke? If so, check the air cleaner box for any leaks. If it's not sealed good and tight, the carb runs lean. Also check the plastic spacer between the carb and the head for any cracks or looseness. Could also be a dirty fuel filter (screwed into the bottom of the tank, where the fuel line comes out), or a weak fuel pump. Let us know what you find... |

Re: G2 running erratically
Good ideas. Remember the starter runs all the time, so you have to figure out if the starter is running or the engine is actually running. The cart will barely move on the starter alone. Sounds like a fuel issue, seal that airbox and check above posted things. Can also remove the fuel line on carb and it should squirt out fuel every engine rotation even on starter. Check for cracked/leaking fuel lines even an air leak will screw it up. Also if you had an air leak and it ran bad, it will foul the plug. It can look good and still not run. Replace or clean well. My cart was terrible about this I run the newer style plug for a G16 or whatever it is, though it was ok after I jetted it. Still that plug lasts longer in my cart.
Also check the spark, once in a while a wire connection or bad ground can cause ignition problems....if its not a fuel issue. |
