I'm sure it would work, but you will have to mount it in the right spot and hook all the stuff up to it like cables/airbox/exhaust/etc. Will have to change a lot of stuff I'd guess, while with the other engine you will not. However you could also drop a clone in it for low cost and double the power long as you are going to make mounts and all that....just an idea.

Anything can be done with enough money, the proper tools, and the right skills.

My thought is you would need to keep all the G2 ignition/ electrical components together to make it run (pulsar coil, ignitor, wire harness, etc).

The G9 yamaha ignitor does not have the rev limit so use that one, should work ok with a G2 I think the crank pickup is same not positive. I would guess all the yamaha 4 stroke use the same wiring to the engine far as key and pedal, that is all you need and the solenoid to run the generator. The worst issues would be if the engine mounting is different because I forget offhand when the blocks changed...is it the newer one with the muffler in the front? Then your intake/airbox might have to be fabricated to mount it up. The G2/9 muffler is on the block if you have bracket no big deal. Is the gas tank/pump going to work ok? Otherwise it should not be that bad once you have it mounted correctly.

i have the motor mounts for the g2 engine, so i feel that would be the hardest part (mouting the engine). this engine has the exhaust in the rear. as for the intake/air box, i will just go with another k&n filter and jet the carb. we're going to look some more this weekend to see if this is worth pursuing, or just sell off the g16...or go with a clone.

I would do the clone if you have the coin and sell the other stuff, but its up to you. If you go to all that hassle you would have double the power, a new engine, and its way fun to drive lol. There is a guy here with two new Drives, they are actually old carts with the drive bodies on them and look great. If you don't have the coin then sure I'd stick them together, but I've done a lot of that mechanical stuff and have a welder/etc. Its finding the time to do it that is hard for me.

You guys are gonna blow me out of the water, but I would keep the G16 and sell all the other stuff. With the money, I would buy a G16 motor or a BB.

The 16 is 3" longer, 3" wider and better rear suspension.

They come with 11HP instead of 9. They weigh less and may have a better primary clutch.

Ok, fire away!
