G8's use a one of a kind igniter, unique only to the G8. G2,8's and 9's run on an open/closed ground. You can blow them by pulling the spark plug wire off and winding the motor over with the starter, and also by grounding accessories to the frame instead of the ground lug of the battery, via Smallblock. I don't understand it, so I just respect it, and follow his advise.

He is the witch doctor on this site!!

good luck Mike

When we bought the cart it had an intermittent no-start.Then finally no-start at all.One day i had it at my house,it wouldn't start,so i knocked it with my knuckles and it started, dad kept it idling,i knocked it again and it quit. That trick always seems to work with CDI-boxes.As i posted earlier,we need a box if anyone knows of any.

I believe I still have my old one. It quits working when it gets hot, so I had to replace it to have a reliable car. New ones are about $140.

Anyway, when ever you need to check spark plug spark, you need to use a dynamic spark plug tester, and not hold the plug against the side of the block. Thats another way to blow the cdi. Now I always disconnect the CDI at the connecter before I weld or otherwise work on my car.

Yup,already know about the cdi testing and not turning over without a plug attached(many years with bikes, sleds, atv's),like i said,it starts then it don't,if i tap it,it starts,I need a new one thats why i posted looking for a replacement.I can buy it new for $125-130,but why not try to find a used one?As far as the welding, the battery ground should ALWAYS be disconnected first and always ground close to your work-area.I've welded on trucks for years with electronics(i install truck-bodies,bumpers,etc..and stretch/shorten frames).I haven't killed one yet!
