1998 G16A engine

1998 cart powers out on hills ,wont rev up to engage clutch, & backfires 0r misses when it does rev up. had fuel problems last year replaced belt ,air filter,fuel filter & fuel hoses,plug,serviced carb but did not replace. started spring where I had to engage choke to run, then as time advanced it would start o pedal only if coaxed with light pressure, application of belt dressing helps some but does not overcome problems ?? Engine has 125 lbs. compression,new oil etc. short of a complete dismanteling what can you suggest? I do not have a manual & the closest service depot is 350 miles away one way//

Have a 1998 G16A cart that does the funky chicken on course !! will run fairley well at times but powers out on hills,wont start when gas pedal is depressed unless done lightly & coaxed or choked, misses on pull coughs on downhill load, slips on clutch, belt dressing helps for a short time for slippage.
Last year had problems with fuel system,replaced fuel pump, hoses,filter fuel, filter air, oil, plug etc. cleaned carb & adjusted, worked intermittingly with single rider but slow with two. Impossible to climb hills with two riders?? Closest service depot is 700.kms away six hrs. round trip. I don't have a service manual !! Engine compression is 125 Lbs. steady no smoke when it revs up to normal it will boot along fine but drives me nuts to get going, any suggestion short of selling will help??

Sorry pitboss, your engine should have 165 to 175 lbs compression at "wide open throttle"! Try the old trick.. a few shots of oil into the cylinder and recheck compression...if better...you need new rings. You could try to adjust the valves...both set at 4 thousanths (when the engine is cold). Would like you to start a thread. That way all will look and awnser and your findings will help another. Yes that would be fine!! I suppose that a new motor is in order?? should this be the case does it come with a new clutch ***. ?? Carburator etc?? And at aprox what cost I am at a Canadian addrs. so shipping would be involved unless out of N.Montana where I could pick it up.

I wouldnt say a new motor. Just rering and valve job. You'd have to check on a qualified mechanic/dealer in montana. Good luck Dave
