Default G2 Primary Cluch

I know this has been covered before but I can not find it..

I am replacing the secondary cluch with a Plugman unit.. I was wondering what I should be doing to the Primary cluch in the way of service?? What I should not do?? and what service I should do and what to watch out for... What greace to use ? and how much to use?

One last question. I wuld like to post some pictures of my cart but I am having trouble doing it. Can any one tell me how......

To start with, put one pump of grease into each clutch zirk fitting. There has been much info. on here on "primary clutch maintenance" and "secondary clutch maintenance". Use the search feature at the top of the page for more info. (more than I can remember).

I have searched it twice and all I come up with is greasing.. Is that all there is to servicing the primary cluch???

Wayne, somewhere Sho has quite a right up on cleaning the primary clutch. Smallblock, Groundpounder, Crash, Creig in tnn, even Spriddle and many more have discussed this topic as well. If the search doesn't find it, scan old threads. You'll find some, much has been typed about clutch theory. You need to read all you can on this subject.

Ya, I know, even Sprid!

I like to lube other parts but the manual usually says not to except the center bushing that is greased with fitting (on most newer carts). If you have say metal links in there that move they can wear out eventually, so I put a drop of chain lube I use superlube its synthetic and collects less dust/dirt. I find that inside most of these clutches are kind of clean since they have covers unlike sled clutches. But its up to you and depends on what is in there. You don't want any lube flying around whatever the case. I cleaned mine with brake clean the first time and pressure washer after that, my G9 has the older weight/link clutch not the rollers, it works far better clean and lubed I do it every other year maybe and lube a few times a summer. Actually it will start creeping during starting when it gets sticky and I put a pump in each.

I lube mine about 5 times a yr. but I drive mine about 40, ta 50 miles a week. I'm only putting about 1/2 pump into each clutch tho.

This weekend I went throught the two cluches and replaced the secondary one with a Ploughman unit. It was not to hard. Took the front one apart and cleaned and greased it it works great. The only thing I need to get is the small plastic pieces ramps. Thanks for the help

Click the "Go Advanced" box in the quick reply, and add pictures with the "attachment" (paper clip).

Then I drag and drop into the box (This all from an idiot about computers), hope it works for ya.

You can also link photos from another site like photobucket, imagecave, etc.

Let us know how it works, mine always runs better with the clutches working right.
