Re: tie rod extesions
On my Ez-Go,I cut them in half, figured the length i needed and got grade-5 u-bolt-rod that fit inside tight, the length needed plus 4"(2" inside each half). Then weld them up.

Re: tie rod extesions
for some reason i was thinking that the tie rods were made from aluminum. now i havent looked but judging from your responses im gonna say that maybe i oughtta take another look at it. the reason i asked was because I made some brackets to relocate the control arms out a little farther and now i have a couple of issues. first my alignment is horribly toed out(hence the need for tierod extensions) and this is making my suspension squat really hard when i drive forward and lift in reverse. also i need to relocate the upper shock mount outward a few inches cause it really softened it up.

Re: tie rod extesions
Without the right angles, shock mounts,coil-rate,and alignment, that is a common problem with Yamahas'.The front tires will fold around under the front when you back up in some cases. The best cure is to try to retain the same angles as factory for all mounting(shock angle ,etc..)and just drop everything down for your required height.I don't remember if the tie-rods are aluminum. If so you could get custom lengths from Speedway-Motors(a race-car supplier)They sell tie-rods/radius-rods by the inch very cheap.Hope this helps.
