I just left the answer for you on the other thread where you asked....its definatly your muffler ...Its plugged with oil and soot....Take it off and cook it in a campfire till it stops smoking then it will run great and you will probably see a good performance increase....good luck It will tend to build up with soot again over time if you are in the habit of running it in short bursts and not letting the muffler get hot hot enough to start burning the deposits up inside...but if its smoking on you it was probably used in this manner by the previous owner.

so ur saying it is good for it to smoke??? because the soot is getting hotter and making it melt as a fire would do?

yes but you would really have to run it for a long time at high throttle for it to clean it out and stop smoking.....but it would work eventually...

It is the nature for 2 cycles to "smoke and smell", thats why there not produced any more. They (I beleive) are still the most efitiant engine for a golf car. No forward/reverse gears in the differential, so few moving parts in the engine and lots of RPMS. But you cannot "burn" the oil, it's there just for lubrication. Where does the oil go ?...Into the muffler. After years of oil build up, the engine can't breath and when you drive a long way the muffler gets hot and tries to burn the oil ..."SMOKE". You can buy a new muffler (expensive), you can "cut off the end of the muffler, stick (with the open end) into a burn barrel and then weld the end back on or as mentioned...stick in a fire. I have not tried that but I would want the oil/carbon to be able to drain out. Dave

2 cycles are used in snowmobiles...they are not used in golfcarts because of the noise and they are not generally as emission friendly....that being said the G1 does not "smoke" like other conventional 2 cycles unless you bypass the oiling system...they are designed to add very very low amounts of oil and this varies by rpm....unlike premixed gas and oil....and the muffler does not acumulate the oil deposits if the cart is used in longer runs giving the muffler a chance to get hot enough to burn whatever unburned oil makes it to the muffler in the first place....I've had my G1 for three years now and run it often, every weekend all summer long and do not have any smoking of stink issues at all......my columbia 2cycle however fits into the catagory you mentioned....it stinks and smokes from time to time and I did have to cook the muffler in a campfire with the exhaust facing down I watched the oil pour out as it burned and eventually stopped this is commonly refered to as a muffler barbecue. and while theoretically some soot/ carbon deposits would remain I've also heard of people running water or air through them before and after burning them as well as cutting and welding and I've yet to here anyone say who actually burned the muffler in a fire say it didnt resolve the smoking or performance issues..But again carts that are ran longer and harder tend to not get the buildups at all.

I thought you said it didnt smoke until it got hot??....if the problem was the engine running to rich it should have done it pretty much from the getgo and your spark plug would be black with carbon...and usually foul out after time.
