Default Maybe Its The Carb.

Runs great, super power, goes all day long if you don't let the engine stall or slow on a compression stop. A stop that is long and draws vacuum if you don't feather the throttle kills the engine.

Then it plays I won't run much above idle with the wheels jacked up. It won't wind up and it won't pull but it fires and wallows along as long as you push the pedal.

Pulling the choke loads it and it will give a muffled backfire and keep slowly running along.

Last time I put compressed air into a carburator it made all the little pieces inside look funny so I'm not going to do that unless...

It's a G9 4 stroke with new plug, air cleaner service, valve adjustment and has strong compression.

I also checked the float bowl and it was spotless and the float felt like it was not full of gas.

I can vise grip the fuel line and it runs about 2 min without fuel from the pump, it really acts like a sunk float but I don't know why it would be intermittant if the float is junk, its junk.

When I cleaned the fuel bowl (on the bottom of the carb) it trickled more than enough gas on the ground to let it run wot. Maybe the main jet is plugged or stuck somehow.

Anyone got any Ideas?

Hey, well, guess I'll talk to myself.

Read some archives today and had about 5 things to try.

One of them was a ground situation. I hooked my jumper cables on the negative battery terminal and around the muffler flange at the head. It ran like never before, it had lots of power and bellowed out exhaust like my dirt bike. Then it quit again. I lifted the seat and the jumper had come off of my exhaust flange. I hooked it back on and it ran fine again.

Bright guy I am I put a homemade #8 ground wire from the rocker cover to the battery and it just runs like new now.

Anyone know if I should have a fuse on the ground wire, because I don't. Never really saw many fuses on ground sides but I saw one today on a G9 schematic, so...

dont see why a ground would need a fuse considering it has no power running through it?...
