I use Mobil 1, 10w-30. Don't cheap out on oil. It's only 1 qt.

The clutches use regular bearing grease--only 1 or 2 pumps on the grease gun. Too much, and it will be slinging everywhere.

I used Mobil 1 in the rear--i think it was 75w-90. No drain plug on the G16 rear end. Carefully remove the cover with a stiff putty knife and use blue RTV sealant when replacing the cover.

Here's the recommendation (quote taken from 2002 G-16A Yamaha Owners Manual):

Recommended oil:
YAMALUBE 4-cycle oil or
SAE 10W-30
Engine oil capacity:
1.16 US qt
(1.0 L, 0.24 Imp gal)
Oil change quantity:
1.0 US qt
(0.9 L, 0.19 Imp gal)

The manual goes on to say to use API grade SE, SF, or SG and Energy Conserving II is recommended. I'm sure you will find that any full synthetic 10W-30 (including Mobil 1) would exceed those specs. Hope this helps.

any 2cycle oil will be ok, not sure of the mix ratio, maybe somebody else can say;; as for the g16, that started this post,, use 10w30 synthetic,, any brand,, you can use regular 10w30 but as said its only 1 qt,, get syn;;; dont be cheap,, its your cart,,

Remember this, the yamaha motors are "Splash-Lube", they were designed to putt along at a golf course, once you run them around with the govenor maxed or unhooked, now you are running it hotter and working it harder,Synthetics will definitely prolong engine life.We raced go-karts in the early 80s when synthetics were new and pricey. The guy doing our motors then said we had to run it,or damage was guaranteed, my dad refused to pay $6/qt.when regular oil was .50/qt!The first nite it locked up,took it back and it was from lack of lube.We got the " I told ya so",Ran synthetics after that and never lost another motor.I run it in all our carts.Mobil-1 is one of the best, they are also one of the originals.Hope this helps.

For your G1, oil used should be 2 stroke oil for air cooled engines. RAY
