Default G16 smoking

when i bought it, it had gas in the crankcase. changed oil, cleaned carb but it did not help with the problem. was told it had been bored to 25 over. took apart motor and the cylinder measured 78mm. bought a new set of standard rings and replaced after honing. put back together and it did not fix it. any suggestions? thought someone may have mixed gas and oil thinking it was a 2 stroke but repaced gas with fresh and that did not stop smoking. dont appear to be getting gas in oil now but does appear to be blowing oil out muffler. i will take any suggestions.

Hello,

I think its the sealing of the valves and / or piston and rings
Are piston and rings the right size?
(It was 25 oversize?)
Is the cylinder nice round and not to oval because of wear or bad honing?

The compressed airmixture gets by the piston and pushes the oil through the valveseales in the inlet / combustionchamber.

Repair both when neccesary, because.......
When the valveseals are good, than you can get a busted seal somewwhere else at the engine when the piston and rings are no good yet.

i was told it was bored to 25 over but it did not measure that so i put standard rings back in. i did take the valves out and look at them and they appeared to have good seals. cylinder looked fine and it only took a minute to hone it

Hello Travis, (?)

The only thing left where i can think off, if everything is right and oke, is to much oil in the engine.

Tip for a check, to be sure.

Compressiontest.
On a cold engine.
Ground the sparkplug (If nessecary).
Take 2 tests with the throttle wide open.
Take the average compression and write it down.

Than the same, but first a teaspoon with engineoil through the sparkopening.
This will seal the pistonrings to the cylinder.
When now the compression is higher, the valvesealers are not good enough.

If there is no clear difference, the pistonsprings maybe broke or wrong side up.... (sorry for the gessing....)

I do not know the right compression for your engine, you have to look for that elswhere

do the rings have a side that is suppose to go up? we looked at them and they had no marks and came with no directions.

Hello,

That is something i don't know.

In some pistons there is a "slot" where the springs have to close, not to put over it.
In other pistons, there is a piece where the rings go partially over and closing up to.
Its like a needle standing in the nut where the springs fall in.
In both cases you can't turn the rings when they are at the right place.

But as i said, that's what you have to ask a Yammi man
(or look in a manual)
