Default G1 governor questions....

How would I adjust the governor all the way for max speed on a G1 2 stroke? and would it throw a rod or something if I rev it too high? Thanks guys

Some members bypass the govenor completely. I myself don't do it. The best you can do is, take the govenor screw out, throw away the 10mm jam nut and turn the screw all the way in (there is a releif cut in the screw to "grab" the spring, make shure it does). With proper oiling (I stay with the stock oil pump, some mix there own) if the engine is solid, it can handle some abuse. Have fun with your toy

Thanks. I put the screw all the way it with the jam nut, I was thinking of taking it off but I'm not sure. Theres a guy who lives in my neighborhood, hes a prison guard. Him and his wife kept stalking me and my friends on the golf cart.... I guess he thinks its illegal to ride them on the street, but its just a private neighborhood. He passed us several times and kept turning around and passing us.... Then he stopped at a few peoples houses where they were outside, I guess talking to them about if the golf cart bothered them. Funny thing is they bought his son a fancy new golf cart a couple years ago that he rides on the street... hypocritical I guess

Not going to say much about this other then, I've encountered truely great policeman/guard's and some that shouldn't have been alowed to carry a gun/badge. Maybe he doesn't like the smoke /noise from a 2 cycle golf car. Please consider this, it is a golf car, ment to be used that way, but we have found other uses. And lastly...I hate mean people!

I understand completely. The 2 stroke doesn't smoke that bad, but you can see/smell it. Its quieter, slower, and safer than any car that drives through the neighborhood and it doesn't hurt anybody so I don't see the problem. Oh well. Tomorrow I have to grease the front hubs on the G1 because they are squeaking from sitting for ten years. Then I will remove the jam nut from the governor adjustment. I screwed the screw in just a few millimeters and I gained a few mph and some acceleration, so I can't wait to see what I get by removing that quarter inch thick jam nut!

Some even put a longer screw in it, or you can remove the governor if you want there are a couple ways to do it. You can do it temp with some small vicegrips then it works normal when you take them off. I can post a pic if you want. The problem with the governor is after a while the throttle cable breaks because of the pressure, there is more the faster you go. Disabling it gets rid of that.

I ran lots of them full speed no governor, never had a problem, and with stock golf tires too....but they were a lot newer back then lol.
