Default Yamaha's with gas in oil and smoking..

To all that have posted questions.....In my experiance.... When you have a "raised" oil level, do to over filling (1 qt only) or gas in oil you will find oil/gas gets into airbox and carb. Normally a peice of dirt has "stuck" the "needle" the "float" opens and closes and the gas has no where to go , but past the rings and into the oil. My recomendations... Take off the carb and really clean it, replace the fuel filter (with a REALLY HIGH MICRON FUEL FILTER!!!! Yamaha sells one for 4.25) You can replace the stock fuel filter and add another one in between the fuel pump and carb if you like. Now..Take the "Pulser line" off the fuel pump and "blow" back into the engine (any restriction ?) If so..spray some carb cleaner in and blow it back into the engine with compressed air (just take off the oil filler cap and put a shop towel over it to stop oil from going everywhere), Change the oil. When you have this high oil level and oil in the carb and muffler you may want to put the car in "neutral" and run it for 10 minutes at a mid idle range, then stop and let it cool down and do this several times. The muffler will "clear out the oil" and start running like the clean car it should. Note: this is not a fix for worn rings "compression reading sould be 165 to 175 lbs at wide open throttle" . Sorry this is a long post....Just was no better way to awnser several posts latley. Hope this helps! Dave
