Default Breather full of oil

My cart seems to be getting oil through the tube that comes from the block to the valve cover and then somehow, through the tube that goes from the valve cover to the breather. Its a G14. Do you think that the oil was overfull just a bit or do I have other problems? Thanks for anyones help.

Oil overfill will do that every time. Chang oil and put one quart in, if lifted the oil level will not read right after you put a qt in mark a new spot on the stick. Yes it makes a mess and trashes the filter usually. The engine pumps oil up to top of head to lube the valvetrain, too much oil must cause more pumping or it can't drain back fast enough. I've never heard of anything else causing it. If it has a valve like the G9 next to the cylinder, you can clean that. I forget what G14 has the G9 has a valve in the line from the fuel pump pulse to rocker, it just has a weight in it. Spray it out with carb clean make sure its moving free in there and you get it back in the same way.

I have a yamaha g16 I believe as well. I just picked it up. Haven't officially confirmed the model yet. It was a little neglected. The air box and filter had oil in it and I also noticed there was gas in the oil. I drained it all and replaced with 1 qt. oil. What would cause the gas mixing in the oil?

I have also seen this problem. And i have found a different cause. If it happens again clean your carb bowl. The float can stick then fuel siphons slowly in to the cylinder and drops past the rings in to the crank case.

Thanks, since I just got the cart I'm learning along the way. I cleaned the carb and re-installed it, drained the oil, replaced it, new air filter, fuel filter, spark plug, etc.

Another cause for fuel in oil is a punctured diaphragm in the fuel pump.

i just had this problem. now that i think of it i put in a tad more oil than a quart, trying to match the dipstick. does a lift effect the oil-dipstick level being that the motor is on a different angle?

Yes, unless you have dropped the front of the cradle/swing arm as well. Dump oil, put in only one quart, and note on dip stick where oil level is, and that is your new full mark.
