Default Engine help (seized) G9

So my question is would it be cheaper to have the motor rebuilt, or to put a new one in, i have checked out prices so far, to have it rebuilt, and it will cost a pretty penny, i have seen motors from China(harbor)Frieght, but thats fabricating stuff and dont have the tools or no how to do that, Also how hard is it to take out the engine block?? This is for my Yami g9 1994.

Thanks Crispy480

I've got a simular problem with my John deere 318 lawn tractor. the Onan engine is redically expensive to rebuild. I've been looking on Craigs list and ebay for another motor or even the whole tractor if its cheap enough. The guy I bought my cart from buy's, rebuilds, and sells alot of his carts. He said he had about $500 into the motor of the one he sold me. Maybe there's someone like that, that lives around you.

the rebuild kits for the g9 were only $200 some odd dollars last time I looked? And its not rocket science to replace a top end. Its easier than swapping the whole motor.

Thats the thing, when i think about taking it to a machine shop, to boar out, or whatever they do, then buying all new gaskets that need replacing, broke the spacer from the carborator, this is my money pit, no engine = no fun, i started stripping down the motor, shrouds, muffler, to get more access to the block it self, hopefully i can find someone cheap that does a good job, or ill Craigslist, and look for one like you did!!! Thanks

depends on whats wrong exactly but usually its the piston, rings and cylinder that get damaged and cause the engine to seize....I had a friend bust a seized g9 loose with kerosene in the cylinder and it smoked like crazy but he ran it the whole summer that way till he could afford repairs so...

What caused it to seize? Did it blow up or no oil?
Call Desert golf cars, monday (623 977 7131), talk to jason, and see what he has to say about prices.

There are a couple control cables some hoses and 4 nuts to remove, and thats about it, to take out the motor. Then take it to desert golf car, about 111th ave and michigan (about peoria ave. I think).

PS. And Jason likes Stella!

Well the last time i drove it, power was great then it just bogged down, even with the pedle depressed all the way, thought it was the air filter, was camping up near the 260 turn off, it was really dusty, cleaned filter, put it back on, added oil,it smoked before so always added oil to it, so im thinking more oil was burning then i thought, so it happend again, put oil in it this time it wat HOT boiling almost when i put that oil in, so lack of oil did something, probly, assuming it got to hot expanded, and now wont turn at all.. have pics of motor to.. oh desert golf cart, there is one closer to me in mesa, can i go there to or should i take it to the one near peoria? Thanks Mike Mac!!!
