Default G1 knows 1 speed "WIDE OPEN"

I had an old G1 givin to me. The owner said it wouldnt run. I hauled it to the gas station and filled it full of gas and oil, took it home, charged the battery and was riding it that evening. Since I had no money in it I decided I would sink about $600 in a jakes lift kit and 22" tires. Then another $200 in a utility bed. When I got it the owner said the engine had been hopped up, and he was right. This thing would run probably 40mph before the big tires and still goes fast after I added the tires. But when you touch the gas you better be ready to hold on. I've tried tinkering with the throttle cable to make it variable speed but no luck. I've never dealt with a 2 stroke much so I don't know if this is the way it's just gonna have to be. Any suggestions? Pics on the way.

I just made my G1 go faster by adjusting the throtle cable up on the govener. If you back yours off a little it should slow it down.

It sounds like your carborator is stuck open. You need to check the throttle cables and pullin the carb itself and cleaning it out is probably thr best thing to do.

I agree, back off on the governor. If you are running one.

I'm all about going fast, but when I want to ease around I have to get in and out of the gas. I just pat it a little as needed, but I can't hold the peddle halfway cuz it'll run wide open. theres no happy medium, its all or nuthin. I'll pull the carb off and check & clean it. It probably hadn't been cleaned in forever.

thanks guy's

hey, i know its been awhile, but did u ever get your cart lined out with the throttle giving you ALL or nothing? i bent my govenor rod the first day i got it trying to get more out of it & made mine do the same thing! make sure your govenor linkage is adjusted right, to let the throttle return to the fast idle screw, when your off the gas.

Cool Re: G1 knows 1 speed "WIDE OPEN"

Years ago I had the same problem with a Yamaha Tri Moto three wheeler. Turned out to be a bad gasket in the jug. Mine was hard to start though. But when it started it was all go.

Sounds like the throttle is wide open. I have seen people rig the throttle cable so the carb. is wide open for more speed. So when you hit the gas, the pedal switch starts the cart running wide open. Check your cables from pedal to governor to carb. Also make sure the return spring for the trottle is not missing.
