G2 Gas in Airfilter Box
I have a G2 that has gas and oil in the Airfilter box. It does not hardly run when the hose from the valve cover to the airfilter box is connected but when I take it lose from the Airfilter box it will start running them after a couple of mins it will start blowing gas and oil out of the hose from the valve cover. What could be making this happen.

Re: G2 Gas in Airfilter Box
Running rough is s by product of the oil/gas mix saturating your filter and not letting air in for proper combustion.
Oil venting out is typically caused by having too much oil in sump (1qt only). The gas could be from insufficient combustion because of it being air starved or you are way rich in your air fuel mixture. I replaced the air filter assembly with a K&N R-0640 air filter and directed the overflow hose to the ground. Good luck... |

Did you have to change anything else when you changed to K&N R-0640

The K&N comes with a hose clamp and completely replaced the whole airbox assembly. You do have to reroue the oil overflow hose off the airbox. I zip tied it to the frame and let it go to the ground.

Also make sure the fuel pump has not failed and gas is going up the pulse line.

Re: G2 Gas in Airfilter Box
I just had this same problem. If it was anything like mine then here is your issue. Your float needle valve is not functioning properly. It is not seating to shutoff the flow of fuel into the carb. Causes could be float level out of adjustment, dirt debris, varnish buildup, hole in float, or broken pivot mechanism.
What happens is this. gas pumps to your carb but is never shut off. as the level climbs too high in the carb it spils into the engine and makes it way down to the oil sump. as the additional gas causes the oil level to rise a oil gas mixture gets pulled into your airbox as these things are made to only hold 1 qt of oil. Check your oil to see if it is thin and smell it. if you smell gas drain and replace with only 1 qt. pull your carb. turn it upside down and drain the gas. with it upside down blow into the gas inlet. can you blow air in? if so your float valve is not closing. you should be able to blow when the carb is right side up (like on the engine) and not blow with it upside down. Hope this helps. mine turned out to be a broken pivot arm. had to order a new carb assembly. |

Re: G2 Gas in Airfilter Box
Do you know what the adjustment should be for the float.
Thamks this has been very helpful. |

Re: G2 Gas in Airfilter Box
while your carb body is turned upside down when the float is level to the carb body it should completely close the float valve. You may need to bend the float arm that pushes the float valve in or out to achieve this.
