Default Yamaha G1 No Spark

Hey guys so I am doing a this cart for a friend, it had no motor. I had a motor with a blown top end gasket and I rebuilt it, motor has good compression. When I went to start it there was no spark. I went back and tried it the next day still and saw it spark once, then it was dead again. any ideas on what i need to check? or what it could be?

Thanks
