Default G1 rebuild & checking oil injection

Hey Guys
Just got the G1 motor rebuild finished last night & naturally I want to check to make sure the oil pump works. I connected the main oil line to it & turned the gear that runs off the crank for a little while but nothing out of the small tube
:(
I know theres a pressure line coming off the exhaust so it may not work like I was trying it. Any tips on how to insure the oil pump is ok before reinstalling it?

Thanks
Steve

Thanks GMB74!
On a new rebuild I had planned on running a tank of mixed gas so this confirms that might be a good idea.
Any suggestions on the oil ratio to run the motor on till the pump starts putting it to the carb?

The pump runs 100 to 1 unless you gas it hard so 50:1 would be safe maybe less if you don't run it hard like 60-80:1 if its governed for golf use. You should notice it smoke more once the injection starts working. Priming it is very important and good reason you never want to let that tank run dry.

Actually you should run extra oil in a fresh rebuilt engine anyway for a tank, I think I would put 40:1 in it maybe 32:1, it will stink more but I like to be safe. But 3 gal should be enough when it gets low the injection will be working top it off with regular gas to thin it out.

If the injection were working you could run 50:1 it would be plus the injection, for break-in, but it is not primed yet or may have air in it I'd put more oil in.

I think the 40:1 is a good suggestion.
Just came in from getting pretty much everything back together. Waiting on a new air filter & throttle cable, got to clean the carb, prime the oil & fuel pump & it should be ready to give it a try.

Then it's on to a new paint job - last owners painted it with a yellow spray bomb & that's gotta go!

Thanks for the replies!

I looked at one here and didn't even want it, looked like they gave latex paint to a class of pre schoolers!
