82 G 1 rebuild
Hi, I'm new poster so here goes. I'm rebuilding a 82 Yamaha G 1 engine, and having trouble finding the correct head gasket and reed valve gasket. Any help with part numbers or parts lists, maybe manuals??

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
yamahagolfcars.com has the parts manuals available for viewing and owners manuals for viewing or downloading. Just select your cart from the drop down menus.

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
You should be able to get everything here
Mine is an 84 but & is a G1 just as yours should be & I got all the parts to do an over haul on mine there. Steve OOOPs looks like there is something different about the 82??????? but they show the gaskets your looking for as general & not specific to certain years. I believe they are on page 4 of the link . |

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
The head gasket is the same for all G1's (j10-11181-01-00). The reed gasket is (87a-13621-00-00). If you can't find the reed gasket, I think I have one I can mail you. Good luck on your project

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
Thanks so much for the replys. This gives me some things to follow. Thanks for the link and the part numbers. I've tried 2 head gaskets from 2 different companies and they seem a little too big. They fit the studs, but not very snug. I can move them around a little after I set it down on the studs???

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
The 82 cylinder is a little different than other G1, I was under the impression it was porting and piston mostly but am not sure. If the gasket is outside the cylinder all the way around it should be ok. If it moves inside I'd not like that.

Re: 82 G 1 rebuild
Well, still have not found the correct head gasket. Ordered another one from another supplier, and it was too large. Any help?
