My 1995 G14 Loses Power
My G14 starts and runs but will sometimes run GREAT and then just fall on its nose and has little power then after a lil bit it will start running great again....Just about everything has been changed out that I can think of to do. I have not changed out the Ignitor or pick up coil....but it has good spark when running either way. Has new: carb, coil, silinoide, muffler, filters, plug, fuel pump, checked all my wireing. Have even added some more ground wires to it. Any sugestions will really be appreciated. I'm going nuts trying to figure this cart out.

Re: My 1995 G14 Loses Power
Wow, looks like you replaced about everything. It could be the ignition module on the side of the tank getting hot and going bad. Just best guess.
I had an old G9 one time that just wouldn't run right at times and I ended up just going down to the auto parts shop, buy several different colors of 10 guage (I think, I know they were more guage than factory) wire and making a new wiring harness. Cart ran like a top after that. I don't know. I had replaced ends, cleaned, etc... on the old harness. It was relative inexpensive, just a little time consuming. Pulled old harness and used it as a diagram and then cut plugs off last and spliced them into new harness. This is just something I did and have no idea if it would help your problem or not. Just an idea only. |

Thanks for that idea. I may end up doing that. I have tried a few more things but still have same problem. Just so strange that it will go fine and run great then just lose power and come to a crawl. I have sat on a piece of wood and went down the road wiggling wires...this didn't seem to have any effect.

Just some thoughts....what about fuel lines? Maybe one that is partially collapsed? The ethanol in gas today tears up rubber items.
Is the gas cap vented? If so, is it venting properly? |

Re: My 1995 G14 Loses Power
I would change out vacuum hoses leading from engine to fuel pump. All of them. If there is a plastic T in that line, check to make sure its not cracked or broken.
Then I would check to make sure clutches are not sticky and just not articulating. Does it sound like the motor is failing or is the motor strong and drive train stumbling? |

Re: My 1995 G14 Loses Power
Thanks for all your suggestions. But I ended up changing out the Spark Ignitor.....the only thing I didn't change out, and it runs great. So there goes that myth...if its working its working, and if its not its not. Cause mine would run and then lose power but still keep running just at a slower pace. Running good now!!! Now my hair can grow back.

Beach, glad you got it fixed, but I believe you just had a bad or loose ground wire. So keep your old igniter, bet its still good. And as you already know, their expensive!!
