Default G16 turns over a bit before starting

Hi Everyone. What a great forum! I've spent a few hours reading around but can't find my problem. My apologies if this is covered somewhere else.

My G16 turns over a few times without firing (especially when cold) when you push the gas pedal. If I use choke it fires almost instantaneously. Even when it's warm it doesn't fire as quick as it should. Seems to turn over 3 or 4 times before "catching".

It also loses power quite a bit when going up hills.

Problems related? What should I try first? Fuel filter & air filter were changed last season and gas is good. Any help would be appreciated!

My G16 was the most cold collared cart I've ever owned other than an ezgo I had. I think its just the model. My G2 and G9 would fire up no problem but the G16 I believe I would've had to choke it on the equator.

As far as losing power on hills, it may be a weak clutch or need a new belt. Is it lifted? If so, you should get the spring/spacer torque kit.

Thanks. Just wondering if it was running to rich and needed a carb adjustment. No - it is not lifted - plain jane right now. I'll check the belt out.

If it's like mine, it will just be cold collared. Take a while to warm up too. Lots of fun in the Winter.

Does it backfire, check the throttle cable that it is closing all the way.

It only backfires rarely when "coasting" down a hill. That is - engine engaged but not pressing gas pedal.
