Default Whats it worth

My grandfather is selling his yamaha cart I believe it is a g2 with a work box on the back.the body is a little ruff and it needs a little mechanical tlc as well. My dad is wanting to buy it from him but neither of them have any idea what its worth though. Any help is greatly appreciated. The motor runs good and doesn't smoke at all.

Not lifted, so stock, in good condition with running motor? I'd say $1,000.

I forgot to mention it does have a small lift and knobby tires on it but the they are nothing fancy. My only concerns with it are that the brakes stick and the cart takes off as soon as you hit the gas like maybe the clutch isn't dissengaging all the way.

I've seen them on Craig's List needing some work, but with a roof and in pretty nice shape needing minor repairs, but otherwise running well for $500.00 +/-. I know that in some parts of the country they are higher priced than in other areas, so value wise it comes down to the supply and demand in your area.

Ultimately what price is paid comes down to what your grandfather thinks it's worth and what your father is willing to pay.

You must think I'm completely nuts then. I paid $1200 for a 1986 G1. Shopped around quite a bit and looked at lots of junk for the same money too. This one was in good shape, ran great, and already had a lift, rims and tires on it. That's pretty much the going rate for a decent old golf cart in Arizona. I could've bought a good running non-lifted cart for around $800, but then I'd have to buy/make a lift and purchase rims and tires anyway. I think it would've been a wash.

As for being in the wrong business. I believe you're right on that one. I checked the title for the new price on this cart in 1986. They sold for $2775. That figures out to it being worth 43% of it's new price after 25 years. Wish my other stuff held that kind of value.

It all depends on the area. We paid $450 each for the 2 g9s we got. They ran great but had rotted the frames out under the battery. Im done with one of them and you wouldnt even think it was the same cart. With buying the cart to end we figure $1500 total, do i think its worth more than that now, yes. I know i need to take finished pictures of the cart because we added stuff after and everytime i see the cart i cant beleave we bought it in the first place with a rotted frame. would my dad charge me for a golf cart-- never, but everyone is different and we dont know what the situation is. Either way just owning a golf cart and enjoying it with my family is priceless!!

Not to high jack, but that's some stellar work there. Very nicely done.. The G9s are definitely my favorite body style. Great looking carts.
