Default G-1 Gas Hog ????

this weekend was the 1st heavy use of the newly aquired G1. couple questions

1) Compared to my G9 this the G1 really seams to suck the gas down, does anyone else have problem with G1 using a lot of gas. G9 i filled up on Saturday the gage barely moved after 3 days of heavy use, G1 was filled a few weeks ago and ran out this weekend, i threw in a gallon or so to make sure there weren't any leaks and the kids ran that out in an hour and 1/2. I know they ran it a bunch but seemed excessive to me.

2) The G1 will become tough to start after it heats up, starter motor is running takes quite a few minutes few engine to kick in and it requires choking to start. any quick fixes? once it starts again it runs fine, i have never checked compression but it has new filters and plug. I am going to recheck all hoses but haven't had a chance yet.

EBriverat:
I am not an expert at them but I filled my G1 up at the end of April and my kids run it about an hour a night and 3-4 hours on saturday and sunday and it is only at a half tank now. It sounds like the needle valve in the carb is stuck open. It sounds like the engine is flooding out after you use it for a while and shut it down. Have you checked the plug when you can't get is started to see if is is soaked? I think I would start by pulling that carb and giving it a good cleaning.

thanks, racinghauler, i think i will start there, i will pull carb off this weekend and clean well. if it hadn't ran so well when i first ran it i would have done that to begin with. i did not pull the plug, i only got to see the cart after the kids brought it back to camp on E, they had fun as long as the gas lasted!

it wouldn't be flooding out if you have to chock it to get it started. you should check the compression to.

I can fill my g1 up and run it for a month or 2 with regular use before it runs out of gas. If it was legal I would park my truck and drive the cart everyday, but the law would probably frown on that.

I don't know about a golf cart, but when the float sticks on my four wheeler, if you don't turn off the gas when you kill it all the gas will run out on the ground. Of course it is gravity fed and don't have a pump, and on a cart you would have to be running it for it to leak out, I assume, and it wouldn't be as noticeable, but it would also cause your flooding problem.
Just a thought
