Default Yamaha buyers advice on G22

Wondering if this is a good price. I'm still new in the shopping phase and I'm looking for the right price more than I'm looking for a specific brand, but I like the engine in the Yamaha for sure.

$2000
2003 Yamaha G22 series with the 357cc 11.4 horse motor
3 years ago: new carb, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new tires
just added a new battery
The tires are new with knobbies in the back and turf tires in front
Custom paint
appears to be in good condition

Thanks Guys

Sounds reasonable to me. Make shure you don't hear and growling noise from the transaxle/secondary clutch, it will also give you a vibration in the seat of the pant's if there's a problem. Check to see if the transaxle housing (very bottom) has been cracked/oil leacking. Does it run good? Does it smoke? And lastly, is the steering wheel straight?, could show a sighn of damaged/bent front end parts. Good luck

Thanks for the tips. I have never owned a cart, and none of my friends have one, so my knowledge is limited to the site here. It looks pretty clean, but I'll have to drive over an hour to look at it. I'm still waiting to hear back about some questions, and I'll add the above mentioned ones as well. I was hoping to stay in the $1500 range - I was thinking of offering 1700

This deal never happened... they must have sold it since I haven't heard back.

Now I'm looking at a 1998 G16, but they are asking the same price. I have actually looked at the maintenance papers that they have done, so it has been taken care of well. $2000 seems a bit much for an '98, ya think?

FWIW, I bought a 97 G-16 for $1800 last year, but in hind sight I had to work on both clutches, replace the drive belt and the battery. In addition, the differential had found some rocks and was cracked. Had to J-B weld that- (so far so good with fingers crossed).I think the $1800 I paid would have been an OK price if I didn't have to do all the extra work. You didn't say if the one you are looking at has a rear seat. That is worth a couple hundred $ more if you wanted a rear seat. Is this car from a private individual or off lease from a golf course? That could make a big difference. Golf course carts get a ton of use and abuse. They maintain them well, but it's not the same. Try to make sure the big ticket items (engine, clutches, tires, transaxle) are ok. Good luck in your search. RAY

Thanks Ray. I planned to wait til spring, but I can't seem to be able to wait. It is completely stock, which is what I'm looking for. The clutch was replaced along with some other minor items. I hope to go buy it Sunday if it looks, rides, and sounds good - if not, on to the next one...

Well I bought it! Very clean with a few scratches on the body. Service records that go back to 2005. Let the pimping of the cart begin!

Congratulations, Doug!! You won't be disappointed with the Yamaha. Mine has been great after doing all those extras needed. You should start by getting all the maintenance items up to date, & by the sounds of it, that shouldn't be too difficult. I suggest (as do others on here) that you use a synthetic oil in the crankcase (only needs 1 qt. so cost is not significant). Another item that I splurged on was a fuel gage gas cap to easily keep tabs on the fuel level ( $18.00 well spent). I use mine to run back and forth to the lake at my cottage. I have two fairly steep hills coming back and needed some climbing ability, so I installed a power spring in my secondary. Really made a biiig difference for hill climbing. Not sure if top speed was affected but it's still plenty fast for my needs. I cranked the adjustment nut in some to help in the speed department. Good luck with your new cart and don't hesitate to ask any questions here on the forum, as there really are a great bunch of guys here to help. - RAY

Thanks for the tips Ray. I have been scrubbing on it alll day and it cleaned up pretty well. The seller said it has been out 3x since last years maintenance and it looks it, although I will be changing the oil to synthetic. Jakes 6" lift and some 12" wheels, HD springs, flip-flop back seat, lights, windshield, and the torque kit are getting ordered as soon as I get back from the lake. Momma is as excited about it as the kids and I which is easier to make good toys for daddy happen.
