headlights flickering and blown fuse
Hey all, newbie here, I have a question, I installed 55watt driving lights on my G16, lastnight when going for a drive in the pits at the races I noticed my headlights flickering brighter as we drove then the cart then the cart stopped running. I got it back to our site and seen the main fuse (10 amp) blew, I replaced it and checked online about not having a ground to the frame on a cart, so I changed the ground to the battery - side and took it for a drive and tried the lights, the fuse didn't blow, but they still flicker a little?? Could the voltage regulator be bad? I don't have a multimeter here, so I will check it for power when I get home, also is there a area here to show you wiring diagrams on the G16? I will be adding a cd player at some point too, just wanna make sire my wiring on the cart is ok. Thanks for any help.

Re: headlights flickering and blown fuse
thanks for the diagram, is the G2 wiring the same as the g16? I got home today and used a multimeter to test the voltage output running then not running, not running battery sits at 12.7 volts, but running it goes up to 15.7 and sometimes will flash 16 volts! so I am thinking the voltage regulator is shot?? I also put the negative lead of the meter to the negative side of the battery, and used positive lead to the frame of the cart and at first it said 7.2 volts then it went up to 11.+ volts???? I am getting lost here. also another thing, there is a low oil light on these carts, mine didn't have a bulb in it, so when I put one in, it came on right away, oil is full because I just changed it, and i should mention the light is on without the key being turned on? like its getting power from somewhere else? it runs great just has some wiring gremilins LOL!! sorry for the long write up, just trying to get it all sorted out, thanks all again.

Re: headlights flickering and blown fuse
So from the wiring diagram the pilot light has +12v to it at all times and the ground is completed via the low oil level switch. Check for corrosion at the switch, if no corrosion causing a short to ground you most likely need a new oil level switch assuming you have the correct amount of oil in the engine. With the switch closed it is possible to read a positive voltage on the frame ground with a bulb in the pilot light socket. Fix or eliminate the low oil level switch then try again. Also if you have a wire that is normally hot grounding to frame slightly but not staying grounded you will see flickering and eventually it stays grounded long enough to burn the fuse. Your battery voltage does seem a little high when running but i would not worry about it until after the other problem is fixed.
