G9 gas yamaha solenoid?
I have a G9 gas, and it quit running. It clicks once when pushing the gas peddle to start it but it doesn't start. The cart started to quit when it got hot or stopped, then it started getting worse with the not starting, now it won't start. Solanoid out?
Thanks guys! |

Does it turn over? If not check the battery charge and then the battery cables for good connections at both ends battery and engine. Bad connections are very common especially grounds.

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
It does not turn over.....key on pushing gas it just makes one click sound and that is it. Completely dead! So bummed. Will check the battery tonight and the wires for the solanoid too.

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
Very common for the clamps on battery to not work and the terminals on the generator and ground. Take them loose and clean, long as you know you don't have a dead battery.

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
Use an old cable and jump the two large posts on the solenoid, if it spins the motor you have a bad solenoid.
just because it clicks doesn't mean it is working properly. If it does nothing like before your problem is a low or bad battery, loose, corroded cable or cable ends, bad ground cable, or bad brushes or internal starter issue. |

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
If it is the solanoid, where can I get an inexpensive one, or can I use a ford car one from the local autoparts store? OEM is $95!!

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
You can get 80A isolators on amazon cheap, but not knowing amp draw of the generator or how they would work. Someone must have posted on here about this.

From what I understand you dont want to use one from a car because a car just opens once. I would get the one listed in the post before mine from amazon.

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
One for a car starter is only to be on for seconds at a time, continuous duty is what you need.

Re: G9 gas yamaha solanoid?
Ok guys I think we found the problem!! We tapped on the bigger cylander looking object/part with a hammer a little bit that is on top with a belt attached to it. It almost started! Is that the ingnition generator/starter? I will need a new one of those. Any suggestions?
