Default Free 84 G1 Not running

I was given an old yamaha g1 84 i believe. Cant find a serial number anywhere. Replaced the battery and had starter rebuilt. The starter will run in reverse and forward with the turn of the key either direction. I get no response from the accelerator. Does the starter constantly run when the key is on in either direction ? Plan on starting trouble shooting fuel delivery and spark. Cart probably sat 4-5 yrs without running before i acquired it.
project cart.

Default Re: Free 84 G1 Not running

The engine should start cranking when you step on the accelerator pedal. You turn the key to the direction you want to go (CW=forward, CCW=reverse). Nothing should happen if you select forward, if you select reverse the backup buzzer should come on. You then step on the accelerator pedal to get the engine to crank over, start and run. When you let off on the accelerator the engine should stop. If the engine cranks as soon as you turn the key, you have a bad switch or shorted wires. Pull up the floor mat and remove the access panel around the pedals. Check the microswitch at the base of the accelerator pedal. It may be stuck, shorted or the wires damaged. Get a wiring diagram from the stickies up top, you will need it. Sounds like you have a couple of problems going on. Pretty common on a 30 year old machine.
