Re: Looking at purchasing a 09 Gas Yamaha
Most of us on here are more accustomed to the older Yamahas. I wouldn't even know where to start on the newer ones. It cant have much that needs immediate attention being that new. I would test drive it for sure and see how the motor runs and how it handles for sure. I must say though if asking most of our opinions on it I would say it's a Yamaha go for it they are some solid carts

Re: Looking at purchasing a 09 Gas Yamaha
That's a pretty new cart (2 yrs), so, thinking that everything would/should be in fairly good condition, if it was given average use. I bought a 97 G-16 last year which needed to have the drive clutch rollers and main bushing replaced. Also, driven clutch and drive belt had issues (new belt + ramp slides replaced). My cart came off a golf course lease so was pretty much "rode hard & put away wet". I found that someone baha'd over a rock and punched a hole in the differential case. (Check that!!) (J.B.Weld has held, so far!). Differential would have been a fairly expensive fix without the J.B. !! Clutch issues tend to be pricey, so check that. Make sure that engine maintenance has been done, check for oil smoke when running. Ask about maintenance !! Check for excessive free play in steering wheel. Also, someone was playing "bumper cars" with mine and pushed the rear bumper/mud guard forward into the wheel (check for abuse). Check tire condition and just overall quality of the cart. Just assessing the general condition can tell a lot how cart has been treated. Did the cart come off a course or private owner?? I realize mine is quite a bit older than yours, but those are some of the "surprises" I had with mine. Hope this helps - good luck - RAY

Re: Looking at purchasing a 09 Gas Yamaha
My buddy purchased an 09 gasser last year. I don't know what model it is, but his is very quiet. It accelerates well, but when the governer kicks in, the governer noticeably holds the engine back. I've been asking him to modify it, but it's for his business, and he claims that he needs to look professional while driving it. I think he would drive it too fast in front of a client, and wreck or scare one of them. Even with the governer, it feels like it has a lot of speed potential. I looked in the engine compartment, and the clutches and other running gear doesn't appear to be much different than my G16. I know he drives it for 2 to 3 hours daily, and has no issues with it. I hope this small amount of information helps.

Re: Looking at purchasing a 09 Gas Yamaha
I think Mike's right, they are 13hp. You cant go wrong with a Yamaha. I like their engines and you can put them through a lot and they always seem to hold up real well.
The only thing I dont like about the 07 and later is the way they did the front shocks. They made them proprietary as the lower shock mount is like part of the upper a-arm. |
