Default G1 throttle sticking / governor sticking

Just picked up a G1 for a great deal! Runs good, smokes a bit once its hot, and needs a little choke to start (sounds like its bbq time!)

The problem is once it gets warm the throttle sticks. Not the pedal, but the cart keeps going until I either pull the choke for a second, or I press the brake long enough.

I just cleaned the carb, which had zero effect on my problem. Thanks!

Replace the throttle cable.

i was thinking throttle cable, but, if I pull over right when its happening, turn the cart off, and press the pedal down, the throttle isnt sticking (with just the pedal).

Im thinking its somehow related to the governor, because I cant see it while im driving.

Other thing is, only happens when its warmed up. Thats why im not exactly thinking cable.

Gonna drive it for 10 minutes, come back and lift it and run it with the wheels off the ground. Hopefully it shows its problem that way.

The engine can not run unless the pedal switch is active under the pedal.

The pedal switch seems to work 100% normal (in regards to starting). If the switch was getting stuck on then:

1. why does it only happen when the engine is warm
2. wouldnt it try to start itself as soon as I turned the key on?

Is there a separate switch on the pedal that kills the coil?

a tug on the choke for 1 second brings the cart into normal off throttle coast and it slows and stops like normal. is it a weak carb spring by chance?

update: the stop switch sounds like it could be a winner, my question is

I see one switch on the gas pedal. Does it do double duty (starting the cart / stopping the cart)? Is there a ground wire on the switch? Where does it run to?

update: put a jack under it and kept on it till it got warm, and sure enough started cruise controlling again.

i did a small adjustment on the carb stop and it finally stopped doing it....but

it IS NOT cutting the engine based on the stop switch. none of the wiring has been messed with, and, it only does it when its warm.

it seems that the black/white wire is going to the CDI. is there a way to test the stop switch?

Just a thought. What about the spring on the carb. Is it even there to close the throttle. Sounds like a simple thing but might be the problem

nope spring is on top.

after adjusting the stop on the top of the carb its work correctly. now I have a bucking issue at minimum throttle. every carb adjust posting I read talks about 'seating' but i see no chair.

now if someone were to say "screw the jet all the way in till it starts getting tight then back it out 1.5 turns" i could understand that.

Well turning the adjustment screw until it is snug and backing it out 1.5 turns is a good starting point but you will still have to fine tune it. I had thought about the spring because mine was doing something close to what you described and it was a weak spring. Changed out the $4.00 part and after some fine tuning on the carb it will creep along as slow as you want or as fast with no bucking. You need to make sure that the cable for the throttle allows the carb to close completly as well. Had to adjust mine at the carb and the pedal. Hope you get it figured out
