Default Gas Yamaha; counter balance shaft

I have a J5 in a G14 and the counterbalance shaft shattered,ben told some have ran this engine without it ?? Other than that engine is in great shape. Does anyone know if this is so or not......newbie to the carts and tring to get up and runnin!

I have heard you can remove it also, I did in mine, just for fun, but put it back, it did have more vibration at higher rpm, But it is said it wont hurt the motor, Its more of a comfort feature.

that was my experience , and the motor will have better throttle response , less moving parts to turn

Ike, get a hold of G1-G9, he did it and said it worked ok!

We had balance shafts in our Kohler 14hp engines. They also seemed to self destruct! We just took them out of all the engines ( used on mowers ) They vibrated a little more, but nothing objectionable.
