Default 1999 G16A will not stay started.

I have been working on a 1999 G16A yamaha golf cart. I have changed the spark plug out because, it was black. Made sure it was getting spark and it was. Took off the air breather box and took off the carb and took it apart cleaned the jets and make sure the float wasn't stuck. Reinstalled it back on and started it and had to cover half of the down pipe to the carb from the air box. Started right up and it ran fine. It blew a lot of white smoke out the exhaust pipe and little oil started coming out of exhaust. I then, checked the oil level and someone put about a quart too much in the motor.I drained the oil and put the right amount back in the motor. I then, put the air breather box back on and install the filter and lead. Tried to start but, it just turned over, never started. Can anyone help?

Might have oil fouled your plug again...Yamaha's don't like that.

I dumped out all the gas in the tank and cleaned the carb and put a new spark plug in and tried to fire over but, wouldn't stay started. Took the valve cover off and reset the valves.Checked the fuel pump and it was good. Blew out the line that goes to the crankcase. Took off 90 fitting that the hose is connected to that goes to the crankcase and checked to see if it was clogged but, nothing in the 90 fitting. The only thing that will start the engine is choke cleaner/ carb cleaner< spraying it into the carb every so often. But, when I stop the motor shuts off.

Need to know what the compression is, and/or its not getting gas. Then loose wire.

Check to make sure the little hose going back to the crankcase is not cracked or has some sort of vacuum leak. It helps pulsate fuel to the carb. If you replaced the fuel lines make sure you went back with the exact same size: 1/4 and 5/16 if I remember right.

That might be the problem. I think they use 1/4 for everything. What part uses the 1/4 and what part uses the 5/16? Also, your talking about the I.D. of the hose right?

Check the pump output. It may need a new diaphram. If its' weak it won't pull enough fuel. Also recheck your carb.If the inlet or main-jet is restricted,You may get it to run at full-choke.Torch-tip cleaners work great for cleaning carb-passages,then blow them out with air.
