Help with G2 jet install

I know this may be a stupid question but how do you change jets in a G2? I bought a K&N and jet from CPP and have never done this and need some help. Can you do this with the carb on or do I need to take it off. Please help.

You'll need to take off the float bowel to change the main jet. It can be done with the carb installed, but you need to make shure the gasket stay's in place or it will leak. If you take the carb off, remember not to tighten the nuts to tight, you can crak the manifold. Might not be a bad idea to take it off and clean it.

You can do it in the cart, iirc is a 10mm wrench. But should be clean (wash engine) before you do that and be careful. Otherwise take the carb off the first time so you know where things are. Don't overtighten that spacer to cylinder it will crack. Use a good screwdriver that fits the jet good and use some pressure, mine was very tight and if you strip the jet have fun getting it out. The float bolt goes in the jet hole, the jet is way up in there. Some carbs the e-tube will fall out from above the jet, mine did not, but some carbs it can just keep an eye out for it. I had to take my jet out in the cart many times I was filing out the jet to richen it, but took carb off first time as jet was so tight I would not do it in cart.

You might be able to leave some of the cables on the carb, you only have to invert the carb to do the jet then stick it back on. Would be a good time to clean it, if it needs it.

Glad to hear it Mac. I put a CPP jet in a couple months ago. It's amazing how easy they make it. What performance gains did you see? I'm just trying to compare to my G2.

I dont know yet because I am finishing up painting it too. I hope to run it some tomorrow and find out. It backfires a little just cranking and running in the shop.

Just let me know if you don't mind. I just need a seat of the pants dyno not any real numbers. Mine got a HUGE jump down low and mid. I don't know about my top end cause my air box got all messed up and now anything past 1/2 throttle I have to hold the choke. That happened first so I deffinetly know it made a difference.

I took the airbox silencer off and it was really lean. I hogged the main out a fair amount to get it right again actually a little on the rich side. Later I took the other stuff out of the airbox but it didn't make any difference so put it back in. Far as power it might have helped a little bit. I raced another cart all the time and he would beat me by a little I always figured because my dump box and frame was extra weight. However I could take him top end because he left his governor on. I noticed it was a hair faster but not much difference not like I walked him after that. But I had also modded my clutches to tow better and drilling the weights, reshaping the ramps, stretching the spring out, etc may have moved my shift rpm up at higher speeds as well. They do make more power at low rpm. In my opinion the only thing that really helps is changing the cam, or the entire engine.

You can change the cam in a G2? I have no airbox at this point just the stock filter completely open to the air. When I dropped my engine cradel I didn't take that into account so it didn't fit. I have to replace my cross member tube this week so I'll do it right this time. If you can tell me more about the cam if you don't mind. I have the CPP torque spring and it's completely worth the money. I tow and play up in the mountains and I'm going to hog out my jet soon.
