Need some help from my G8 friends here
I just picked up a G8 that didn't run real well. I found the rings were shot and the boot for the carb was busted. While I have it out I was going to do a valve job and all new seals and gaskets. While the cylinder was out and the block was empty I thought what hell I would go .50 MM over on it. What I want to know is since I have it apart and going this far what other mods should I look into doing? This is being built for off light off road use like trail riding and so on so any extra power I can pull out of it would be great. Please any input would be great.

Yeah I was thinking that also but then again over time if something happens I will probably big block it but I'm not sinking that kind of money in it now. It has the power spring kit in the rear already so now it’s all up to the power plant. Just wanting to get a little power for the hills.
Sorry okokok here :) I don't see the smiley icon. I’m just trying to keep everyone happy |

What benefits is there for going with a cold air type kit. As for my G1 I have a K&N cone type filter but that’s also 2 cycle ant 4 stroke. I see where guys put a cold air system an rejeted the carb ( rejeted? is that a word lol ) Is it worth the time and money?

Red, I would encourage you to read the whole Yamaha site! Tons to learn, and do all maintenance talked about here. Maintenance is the key to a good running car.
Enter the "G8 Club" at your own risk, (don't know if you'll be helped there, but you will be talked about ether way )! But there is alot of info. there! |

Yeah I been doing some research on here but haven't seen a whole lot on G8s. That why I thought I would ask.

Re: Need some help from my G8 friends here
G2/8/9's share alot of the same running gear. G8 frame is close to the same as G16, so between the 2 you have to jump back and forth. G8's are rare.
