I myself use grease, for 2 reasons....1- it won't have a tendacy to "leak" past the seal that the pitman arm passes thru. but more inportant to me....With the box "packed" the pitman arm can't "move" as much. The helps with steering wheel play and feel and you don't seem to hear the "clunking noise as much. Remember with the pitman arm "pins" riding in the worm shaft grooves, you need some play or it will "bind" giving you a "tight spot" when turning the steering wheel. Just my suggestion, pack the box with grease, "jack up the front end" loosen the "jam nut" on the adjustment screw, turn the adjustment screw in and then use your finger to turn the steering wheel. When you feel any binding, back off adjustment screw till you don't and tighten the jam nut and you are at the "tightest" your steering will be. Hope this helped. Later Dave
