Default G16 clutch

Going to inspect my clutch to see if the rollers are worn before adding the Plowman's kit. What I would like to know is if I have to rebuild the clutch, what or where can I get a pulling tool to use for this? Can I go to a local AutoZone and get some type of puller that will work with the Yamaha clutch or is it a special tool that can be only used for the clutch?

Special tool like snowmobiles use, its a bolt with a long rod. A guy here made one with an old sparkplug 14mm thread fits and a rod. Or borrow one. I had a machinist make me one.

I was wondering after reading threads here about a home-made shaft/puller with a bolt that you can get for about $5.00 or so at local hardware stores as long as the bolt is a grade 8. I also read about the 2x4 method..

I could not find the right bolt. If you make something like Doomsman says you should be careful it engages enough threads and all that. I would NEVER touch the sheaves to get one off 99.9% of the time you will break it. On sleds we used to loosen the bolt and drive around the yard for a while, but on sleds you have a metal guard around the entire clutch so I would consider it somewhat safe. They also seem to have more crank vibration to pop them loose so I don't know if that would even work on a cart. Once in a while you take the bolt out and they will fall off, but not very often. I had the tool made for a reason, its the right way to get them off with no problems. I can't recommend it be done any other way, though I think the right bolt and right rod will work ok. Any other way you are on your own. Put some anti seize or grease at least on the threads of the puller. I hit it with an impact on low setting it came right off.

Thanks
I took the bell housing off the clutch today to inspect the rollers. Two rollers were round with no flat spits. The third one shows a little wear. Should the clutch be rebuilt or is it still good to go with the Plowmans kit?

Ok, has anyone replaced rollers on a G16 clutch? It looks like it can be done, but I would like to hear from anyone that may have done it without taking the clutch off.

I don't know if it's possible to replace them with the clutch on. You have to unscrew the outer part of the clutch or the spider, I liked to have never got mine apart and it in a bench vise. If one roller has started to flatten I would replace it so the clutch can work properly.

Just an pbservation, but I read on here that a spark plug is the correct size and thread pitch for a puller bolt.
