G16 engine rebuild ???
What's the recommended procedure? Can I pull the engine out the seat hole, drop it out the bottom, or pull the body off? I've pulled the body off a club car once but this looks like it might be easier to leave the body in place. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: G16 engine rebuild ???
Pulling the rear body off of a G16 is pretty easy. The engines I have removed I pulled out the top with the body off. With the body out of the way it gives you a lot of room to get the motor out.
If you are rebuilding it yourself please post your progress and with pictures if possible. I have 3 G16's, two with big blocks and one with the OE motor. I have two G16 motors and would like to rebuild one of them the put in one of my carts. I've never built a motor but would love to know how. |

I forgot to mention that if you are working on it up on jack stands be careful not to move the cart around two much. They fall off pretty easy, mine took a bite out of my ankle last night when it fell off the stands.

Re: G16 engine rebuild ???
I was able to pull my stock engine out of the seat hole as well as put my briggs back in it by myself, its not that big really. I didnt want to take my back seat off to do it...

Re: G16 engine rebuild ???
I think I'll try through the seat. I suppose I can always lift the body later if I have to. This is a volunteer job already so don't want to spend more time at it than necessary. Looks like a lot of stuff to disconnect, etc. if I remove the body. Maybe some others who've done it will chime in before I get it done.

Re: G16 engine rebuild ???
G16's are the easiest to pull, don't need to take the body off. Here's the order I use...remove air box/disconnect choke cable and accelerator cable from carb and put the carb on the gas tank/remove drive belt/take the starter generator tensionor bolt out and the 2 17mm head mounting bolts off the just place the starter/generator on top of the transaxle/remove rubber shroud and muffler bolts and muffler/disconect the ignition wire connector (at front of engine (1 blue/1-black wire connector)/remove the 4 14mm motor mount bolts and lift the puppy out
