Default Muffler/Exhaust for g16

Something happened to the muffler on my g16. It was quite but now its very loud. I was afraid it was engine problems, but if I take the muffler off and run the cart(while on jack stands) it doesn't make the noise. I am guessing it may have blown a hole in the muffler under the heat shield, because I cant see anything wrong with it. The cart still runs fine, its just very, very loud. Does anybody have any pic's of a custom exhaust they have built. I really don't want to spend $300 for a new muffler.

Thanks...Brandon

Don't run it for long periods that way. Air cooled engines that have a muffler are tuned for it. If the muffler is removed you lose back pressure and the engine will run lean. A Lean mixture will cause it to run hot. Valve damage can occur. Some will argue on this but its a fact. I worked on many a motorcycle engine where the owner removed the muffler. And did nothing to re-tune the mixture. The valves had to be replaced.
