Default G22 runs but won't move

Hey guys...I'm new here, I've had my 2005 Yamaha G22 for about a year now and it has been great...has the Jake Lift kit on it and all.

Anyway, my wife was driving it the other day and she said it was like the belt came off. It would rev up and everything but it wouldn't move. I've been looking at it and can't figure it out. I tookk the seat off so I can see what is happening while the throttle is engaged.

The clutch turns and goes in and out like it supposed to. The belt is turning and so is the rear pulley (can't recall what that one is called), put it doesn't move. I thought it may have been the belt being worn down so I replaced it and it still does the same thing. When I pull the belt as if to make it go around the clutch and pulley, the back pully turns and it moves the cart forward or back (weird, because when the throttle is engaged it turns, but it won't move).

So...any ideas guys? Thank you for any help you may have. Ohh and I've switched it from forward to reverse and still the same thing. Could it be the shifter cable not engaging?

Thanks for your help.

That is where i would start, check it is moving the lever and how far.

Jack it up off the floor don't want it running away.

Could also be a rear axle hub with stripped splines.

I don't hear of the yamaha stripping axle splines, but have seen the secondary strip on the trans input shaft, still not common. Yeah I would check the shifter cables they do have a neutral in the center and if a cable came loose or broke who knows what its doing. But if you turn it by hand and the cart moves the engine should move it too, far as the trans. Otherwise lock the brakes then turn the secondary on the trans and see what is slipping. In gear you should not be able to turn it.

Well I guess I've been working on something other then Yamaha's. I've seen Dana axle hub splines strip, but never have I seen a secondary strip on the transaxle input shaft. Dang, I learn something new everyday!

Not saying it does not happen, just seems to be an ezgo thing more than any other. I don't recall the last time I saw a yamaha thread about an axle. But I guess technically the helix and the taper/key on the secondary would have to be messed up to turn free like described. I saw a helix spline trashed but don't remember what caused it.
