Yamaha G16 2000 Big Belt
The big belt that is by the clutch is so tight. Could it be the wrong belt or is my clutch not fully coming back to relax it? Before all of this the cart has been bucking like a horse at take off then runs fine when going. Any ideas?

Joepa, see if you can manually pull the primary (clutch on the motor) open.
The belt should be free on the primary. If it is not, than your primary is not opening all the way or you have the wrong belt. |

Re: Yamaha G16 2000 Big Belt
Could have flat spots on the primary clutch rollers and a weight has gone past the roller making the clutch stick in the closed position. That would make the belt tight and cause the "bucking"/jerking" on take off. Just take off the 3 10mm head bolts that hold the clutch cap on to inspect it. A picture would be good also.

If it is the wrong belt would that cause the clutch to no back off the belt. I tried to pull the clutch back and it would not budge.

Also if it is a flat spot in the clutch, do I need to replace the whole clutch?

Re: Yamaha G16 2000 Big Belt
Last question, is there a way to loosen the clutch off the belt without pulling it?

Re: Yamaha G16 2000 Big Belt
You probably have a weight that is locking the clutch from sliding. There are 3 weights locate the one that is holding it in a bind. Try to get it free and belt will loosen up to take it off.

Re: Yamaha G16 2000 Big Belt
Ok I took the main clutch cover off and the clutch released. I was able to get the belt off. I believe I have one roller for sure with a flat because (what looks like a pin ball flipper) is outside the clutch not inside like the other 2. Am I right? Sorry I have no clue about golf carts but I am trying to learn. I changed the belt and put clutch cover back on. It made a bang and started jerking (bucking) after that. Is this the rollers that need to be changed?
