Question Need more Torque?

I replaced the Clutch Spring with the white from Jacks a couple years back. It is fine when Im riding alone but heres the issue.

I have modified the gov and the cart will run near 30mph. I have other mods to exhaust and air intake as well.

When I have 2-4 people on the cart and want to climb a small grade it really struggles. Even when Im alone it seems to really struggle on hills.

I would like to get more low end power and would gladly give up a bit of speed.

ideas?

if his cart is the one in his advatar then it's a 4-stroke cart, therefore the crank seals won't matter,

taking the outer driven sheave off and having the center machined a little like
CartPartsPlus does will help.

I recently put Plowman's power kit on it made a huge difference in torque. It sounds like you only need the clutch kit part. When I called them I spoke with Don, he asked a bunch of question about my cart and what I did with it. They have many different options. Their clutch kit fit the use and are not one size fits all. Hope this helps Carl

The white springs work good but a machined clutch, spring and belt from Plowmans is day night difference than spring only. He will send you the kit with a spring to match your riding terrain.

I would start doing clutch maint. before you spend money. I think its a maint. issue.

I agree with Mike Mac. A simple tune up may help especially if you notice a steady decrease in performance. Maybe even run some Sea Foam through the engine via the gas. I did that with my G16, and a lot of carbon came out of the exhaust. This led to a noticeable increase of performance. I also put it in my third lung with similar results. I too have a Plowmans torque kit, and it does make a big difference. But I would definitely go tune up first, because even with any performance mods if the cart is running bad, you won't get the results that the parts can deliver. Just my humble opinion.

The cart doesnt run bad, it actually seems to run pretty well. Although it wouldnt hurt to change the plug and run the seafoam through it.

If you are on level ground it will accelerate fine and top out around 25-30. Its just hills that kill it. Not big hills, just a little hill and it will start slowing down quiet a bit.

Im not expecting a rocket ship here but would like it to pull up hills better than it currently does.

I will go with the general maintenance first and then look into the plowmans clutch kits.

THANKS

Is this a recient issue, or has it always been lazy with multi people?
Maybe broken motor mount or worn primary clutch. Could the secondary spring be broken? Or worn belt?

I agree with Mike Mac. It sounds to me like it has plenty of power when there is no load on it. As soon as you add a load, like the hill you are talking about, the cart falls on its face. My guess is that the clutches aren't downshifting to get more torque. These motors are not big blocks and you "will" slow down going up hill, especially with people riding along. But if you can't make it up the hill at 10 mph, then you have a problem.

So my question is: Can you make it up the hill? And at what speed?
