Default Advice for Complete G9 engine rebuild and tune-up

So, I am the new guy on the block when it comes to completely rebuilding a golf cart engine but I have been fooling around with my G9 for several years. I'm 19 years old... like I mentioned.. I'm the new guy... My golf cart has been running very hot lately. I can drive it for about 10 min max b4 it begins to rev extremely high and backfire repetitively. Since the cart is almost 20 I decided to go ahead and take on the challenge of completely tearing the cart down, cleaning it extensively, then by using an engine rebuild kit I just ordered, I will rebuild the engine. If anyone that has done this has any advice for me I would greatly appreciate it. :-)

you have the service manual? if not you can find the request thread in here

clean clean clean, then clean some more.

you'll need a clutch puller bolt

the hot running , backfireing sounds to me like a lean condition, it could be sucking air around the carb mount or the stock aircleaner box needs some attention

Sometimes "running hot" can be clogged air shrouds and cylinder fins, also a plugged muffler. Never understood ordering a "rebuild kit" before you disassemble the engine to see what it needs

Well, yesterday I got everything apart and broken down and as I suspected all the gaskets and seals are completely trashed. The rebuild kit just comes with all new seals, a new piston, and ball bearings and all of those items need replacement badly! as far as the clutch puller bolt goes... do you have any suggestions on where I can get one fairly cheap? I hate to spend 40 bucks on something im only gonna use once...
