Default G2 Engine Bay: What am I missing??

Hey fellas! For those that don't know I picked up a couple Yamaha project carts lately-- one of them being a G2. The engine bay is missing a few things (ignition box, spark plug wire, carburetor, amongst a few other little things. I was hoping based on the pictures below that those of you familiar with this cart might be able to tell me what all exactly I need to get that is missing:

(Notice the snipped wires, circled in red)

I have a complete drive clutch for it, carburetor, carb joint, the rest of the intake, and bolts for the valve cover (I took the valve cover off to make sure everything was functioning).

As far as the snipped wires go, I have snipped more of the wire harness off another junk G2 at the salvage yard and determined that I'm missing a rectangular clear-ish plug, which I'm assuming went to the ignition box. Does anyone have pictures of where the ignition box is installed?

Also, any idea what all is missing from the driver's side rear fender well?? There are some disconnected wires that you can kinda see in the second picture.

Not sure what was wrong with this particular cart, but the engine rotates over fine and the valvetrain works just fine. Has compression and the starter/generator works. I cleaned out the gas tank and changed the oil, so all that is left is to replace the missing ignition components, install the carb, and try to fire it up if the fuel pump ends up working.

EDIT: Oh and it's also missing the choke cable and ignition key switch. No problem on that though.

The ignitor box is located under the fuel pump. The voltage regulator, fuses and reverse buzzer are mounted on the left rear wheelwell.

I don't see the coil, but it's kinda hidden on the front of the engine. Also, it looks like the tensioner is missing. It is just forward and below the starter/generator pulley. The bracket is there.

Looks like a fun project! I'm looking for one just like it... Keep us posted.

Thanks Steve! Sounds like the ignitor box and harness is what was snipped off from the wiring harness then. Yeah, you know... I noticed some little do-hicky hanging around down in that area where you are describing the tensioner. I couldn't figure out what it was that I was looking at, but it was like a small cable that I couldn't figure out what it went to. What was it a tensioner for exactly? I figured since the starter/generator's tension is held in place with a bolt that the tensioner must be for something else.

I didn't see a coil either, I guess I assumed it was built-in with the ignitor box. So I definitely have a few parts to scrap together before I can test this thing. I snagged a voltage regulator and reverse buzzer off another cart... I guess I just didn't know what that stuff was.

Well thanks again for the help!!!

Also, if anyone has pictures of the parts I'm missing that'd be excellent, so I know exactly what to look for next time I visit the salvage yard :)

The tensioner keeps the engine from moving backwards when it's pulling on the drive belt. The rubber engine mounts are very soft, so without the tensioner cable, the belt would possibly slip.

Parts 11 - 14 are what you need. It hooks in the bracket on the frame, and goes through the bracket above the left front engine mount. (#15)

Hope you find everything you need!

Thanks again Steve!! I have something that looks like 11-14... not sure if I have a picture where it can be seen, so I'll check when I get home and upload any pictures I might have of it, but it's in a spot that you almost don't see it. The cart is down in Virignia right now so I'll just have to go through the pictures and hope I have one.

Thanks, I hope I can find everything too without have to resort to getting too much off the Internet. The salvage yard lets me grab things for real cheap if it's something that one of the two salvage carts that I bought form them is missing. :)

Some have built one with a threaded rod and welded washers to the end, etc. The coil bolts on those two bosses on the front of the engine cowl, sort of above the generator. It has a plug that plugs into the loom near the ignitor plug, I think the crank trigger also plugs in there (3 plugs). You need the carb and spacer? There is a black plastic spacer behind the carb don't overtighten bolts you will crack it.

The wire diagrams are posted in a sticky post above here in this section. Its pretty simple power goes to key, then to pedal switch, then to coil and ignitor. The little wires on the gen go to the VR. The microswitch on the shifter goes to the buzzer, I got rid of mine a long time ago. It got wet and sounded like a dying duck.

Note that yamaha have ground wiring, the frame is not ground. They have fuses positive and negative. Is common to have wiring issues on these like bad connections/etc. with age.
