Default My G1 needs too much Choke

I hope some can give me some good advice. I'm new to carts. My G1 won't go on acceleration after it's warm without help from the choke every time. I have already changed the gas, 2 cycle oil, diaphram in the fuel pump, gas filter, oil filter, spark plug, pre air and the air filter. I was told the carb was rebuilt before I got the cart, but I took it off and cleaned it anyway. Once it gets going it will run good. But when I stop I have to pull the choke out and slowly push it in until it fires and goes. Is this normal for the G1? The cart did sit for a couple of years before I got it going and ran the heck out of it.

Welcome to BGW!!

I would say you need new crank shaft seals. You are losing pressure.

Thanks for your help. I just ordered the seals and the clutch puller. I'll change the seals and see how she runs! I'll keep you posted.

I beleive this will fix your problem. The New Guy knows his stuff (buy the way Ron.....useing tape to hold out the choke on the camp ground car ?) I would only recommend to "mark" the timing plate to the block to insure correct reassembly. Good luck Dave

LOL!! Dave a friend GAVE my wife an '85 G1. I told her if it makes through the summer we will bring it home over winter and do it up. As for now yeah I have a mini c-clamp holding the choke out and the thing runs great!!!! I know it needs seals but for now it's all good.

Well I guess a mini c clamp is better than tape!

My G2 was the same...only I had to leave it choked all the time.My friend BigblockDave) knew exactly what I needed. For a mere 60 bucks...my cart is better than when I got it 6 years ago. This baby hauls a s s.Did the bypass gov thing.Makes ALL the difference.Next...I think I'll rebuild the carb.Have no idea when it's been done...if ever. When I try to adjust the air mix...don't seem to matter at all.

Just got the new seals from buggiesunlimited. Hope there the right ones. They are two different diameters. About 1.5 and 2.5 inches. Does that seem right...before I tear this thing down? I'm a rookie! Thanks in advance.

Another question...After removing the flywheel side seal, it looks like the bearing is only a half circle of ballbearings...not a complete circle. Is this normal? And also is it necessary to remove the case and if so is there a gasket I need to replace.
