Default lost my coil

me and the wife went for evening ride when my 1985 g1 died. no spark! to the plug. after further investigation i found that the ground wire attached to the coil was not showing any ground with the continuity test.

i then made a jumper from the ground terminal to the coil and wham! i have spark. anyone have any idea where i may have lost the ground to my coil.

any suggestions?

thanks mark6065

Check the fuses up near the coils.

checked the only two fuses i could find and they were good. had a problem with the ground wire getting hot and coming off at the coil. this happened about 4 times in about 4 months? i would replace with a new terminal and it would run fine then it would break off right at the coil.

Is the coil getting really hot? May be a bad coil.

found it after a long search. the black ground wire going to the coil just before the quick connection was broken but the insulation was still intact.sounds like a loose connection to the coil caused the wire to heat up and then started to break down. hope thats the only place.
