Default G9 Gov. bypass or power kits?

Hey folks, I have acquired another nice G9. It has an approx. 4 in lift, roof, windshield, custom brush guard, nice aftermarket lighting, led tail lights, and some neon on bottom, CD player. 18x10x10 all around.

I have adjusted the governor nut all the way in, and have noticed an improvement, but I would like a little more. I know the governor bypass is a freebee upgrade, but this is driven by my 14 yr old and 10 yr old son, so I'm a little concerned with safety.

What other improvements can be made for some more torque and possibly top end? I have seen these torque kit springs, and I have seen some different clutch kits. i.e. Comet and Plowman. BTW I like Plowman's webpage but leaves a little to be desired. I will be glad to post pics as soon as I can figure out how with my iphone. lol.

Thanks!

Sounds like a nice cart. I would keep the governor functional with the kids. Most sponsors don't/can't list everything on their websites, give them a call, they will be happy to help.

You can check the throttle cable adjustment under the floor panel. You can't have the throttle (at carb) open when it starts or it will backfire and not go slow, but you need to have the carb start to open right after that. I put it so 1" of pedal travel at top it starts to open carb, that is 1" after the pedal switch has been tripped. If your lift will fit it you can put 22" tires on it gears it up more for better speed. The lift needs to move the front tires forward to clear the frame when you turn for larger than 18 tires. You may need to trim for rear tire the rocker end hits, the inner well may have to be wired back to not rub. Also clean and lube the clutches to start and check the plastic 'shoes' on the back of the larger secondary clutch on the ramps there. The clutches need to be working right to start with, many are dirty and never serviced.

These carts are very simple to work on and improve torque. I am partial to a comet clutch as that's what I run. Torque kits for the rear end help drastically for hills. Also run synthetic lubes. Call Tom at COP, he can help.

I put the performance jet and rear spring from http://www.cartpartsplus.com into my G2 after putting 24" tires on my G2. Pulls harder then stock. I don't have my governor hooked up at all the throttle cable goes from the peddle to the carb. I don't let the kids drive that one tho. Whether you do the cable to the carb it's self or not us up to you but deffinetly get the performance jet and the spring from Tom at CPP.
